dancer: heike salzer; original music: jeff muhler; filmed and edited by ana baer; directed by: heike salzer and ana baer; produced by WE Create; filmed in SMTX
“home” is the latest collaborative screendance by artists Ana Baer and Heike Salzer, produced under the umbrella of WECreate Productions, in 2016.
In this split-screen video, home is referred as an extension of self, neither determined nor limited by time or space, but embodied by the movements of the dancer. The dual screen accentuates the need to reveal an alternative reading to that of the polarity of the dichotomies present/ absent and leaving/ staying, allowing for simultaneous realities or points of view. Experienced in a liminal space, home represents what is close to oneself, the rest vanishes with the transient locomotor. “home” was edited by both artists offering each, their own account of one event using a phenomenological approach that intends to create a visual/aural metaphor for the audience.
premiered: 05/14/2015 Arts and Media, Teesside University, Middlesbrough, UK. Screened as part of the Lecture “Creating a screendance in a natural environment, improvising, adapting and everything in between”.
